Sustainability and Environmental Promise

Fence N Fix have have promised to reduce the amount of waste we produce by 90%. The way we will meet this objective is by how we look at each and every project we do. We know that most of a boundary fences are not past there life cycle. In fact the reason a fence requires replacement is because of a few factors like the bottom of the post snapping, capping's and rails deteriorating, or simply weather conditions impacting the stability of the fence. Most customers don't know that this can be resolved via a repair in most cases, but end up paying for contractors to remove what is perfectly fine, and replace with new, or complete an ineffective repair as a quick fix.

What we offer is value for the future!

So what do we do differently?

Investigation- We work closely with our clients to understand their priorities. We then look at the damaged fence and identify areas of improvement. Various options are put to our client identifying route cause and the value of repair and replacement. We discuss the life left in the remaining fence and what to expect going forward. providing all the data to our clients so they can make an informed decision.

Waste Reduction- General waste contributes to approximately 11% of Global CO2. To help reduce this we discuss the process of waste removal, and how this impacts the environment, the cost implications and how much of our clients fence does not require replacement. We know that 90% of a fence does not require replacement. Waste removal is expensive as there is the cost to recycle all waste, plus the labour to remove the fence. We do have a waste carriers licence and know that all our waste is recycled. We minimise what goes to landfill.

Concrete Reduction- Concrete production accounts to approximately 8% of global CO2 emissions. This is due to the energy-intensive process of manufacturing cement. We know that concrete posts are rigid and seen as a cost effective way to install a new fence. However, this is not always the case, and its more about businesses focussing on profits rather than doing what's required. We don't believe in miss selling. We use techniques and decision making to reduce the amount of concrete required.

Sustainable Timber- Although we have promised to reduce the amount of wood we use by prioritising repair over replacement. There are times that timber products must be used. All timber we use are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). These products are all resourced locally.

Fuel Reduction-  Repairing a fence over replacement means that less fuel is used throughout the supply chain. everything from the fuel used by the cutting and importing of materials, to the manufacturing process and the delivery process. This means that Fence and fix can reduce the need of large lorries and vans, to small eco friendly alternatives. We are unable to go fully electric at this time, but we are using energy saving alternatives. Euro 5 emissions vans are one of the lowest CO2 producing diesel and petrol vans, that allow us to efficiently manage our priorities and meet company and client objectives. We have also stopped using generators and petrol powered tools wherever possible.

Paper Reduction- Paper production produces 3.3kg of CO2 for every 1kg of paper produced. This equates to 2% of global CO2 emissions. We no longer use paper, unless there is a priority when conducting site visits. All quotes, estimates and Invoicing are now digital. This reduces deforestation, but also the recycling process of paper which equates to another 1.3% of global CO2.
